The word 'diet' comes from the Latin word 'diaeta' meaning 'matter of living, or way of life' which suggests that a diet is something that you are going to do every single day of your life no matter the circumstance. Whether it is an average day, a day off, a road trip, or a flight across the country, your diet is oblivious to all of that. It does not care what day of the week it is, what time of day it is, or what month it happens to fall in, it is something that you should be doing every single day of your life.

What about those trips across the country, how do you maintain your diet then?
While it is nice to take a vacation from time to time it does make it increasingly difficult to stick to your plan for eating to lose weight. Here are some tips if you find yourself on a cross-country venture.
If your vacation entails you driving a long distance one thing you might try doing is packing a cooler full of foods from your diet. You can pack it full of pre-cut vegetables, cashews, almonds, bananas, apples, and other dried fruits. Then, to wash it down throw in a couple bottles of water. If one of them is frozen solid it will keep the rest of your food cool until you reach your destination.
Now, if you find yourself hopping a plane to reach your destination it is going to make it a little tougher for you to stow that cooler in the overhead container and even tougher trying to get more than 3.4-ounces on the plane in the first place.
Due to that restriction, you are going to be limited to what you can pack in your carry-on bag, but you can still pack bags of nuts or seeds as well as dried fruit, and you can always grab a bottle of water while making your way through the airport.
These are just a couple of tips to help keep you on your diet while you find yourself outside of the ordinary day. One thing that people do not understand is that it only takes one horrible meal to undo all of the hardwork that you have done up to that point. That burger or that slice of pizza is not worth the effort that got you this far.
It is amazing how far this country has come. Life used to evolve around growing, cultivating, and trading food almost like you lived to eat, but now with a fast food restaurant on seemingly every corner food is much easier to come by. We need to get back to the old world ways of the farm. Our lives should evolve around producing a higher quality of food instead of taking it for granted.
