Although it can sometimes be perceived as vanity, dreaming to have a beautiful skin is not just about outward appearances, but also about being healthy. In fact, those who have a nice-looking skin are generally those that are clean and sick-free physically. Well, they didn't become healthy because of having nice skin. The good-looking skin they have is usually a manifestation that they have a healthy body.

Some people go the extra mile to make sure their skin looks nice not because of personal whim (also sometimes it is because of that) but because their job requires them to, or at least they need to look good when performing their job.

If you're in any of these lines of work that entails looking good on a day-to-day basis or you simply want to have a great physical appearance, here are things you can do right at your own home to make your skin look clear and lovely:

Get rid of acne - Having pimples is one of the things that can make any face look unsightly. And this is aggravated by the fact that there are tons of over-the-counter products out there that promise to get rid of acne but actually make it worse. The solution? Tea tree oil. This topical treatment is an extract from a plant native to the land down under. There's a study that found that tea tree oil worked as well as 5% benzoyl peroxide in terms of controlling the symptoms of acne. For pimples to heal quickly, apply 100% tea tree oil with a cotton swab directly onto the area with pimples every few hours. You should also apply vitamin E oil on the pimples at night, preferably an hour before bedtime.

Enhance your complexion - Another way to improve your appearance is to lighten those dark spots and marks left by acne. You can use freshly squeezed lemon juice to dab on your skin or you can apply organic yogurt. Apply them on your entire face and neck areas. After leaving them on for about 10 minutes, you'll notice a lighter and brighter skin. Drinking at least 2 liters of mineral or filtered water a day can also do wonders not only in having a nice-looking skin, but also in preventing and getting rid of blackheads.

Use really clean water when taking a shower or bathing - If it's possible, find ways filter the water you'll use for shower or for taking a bath. This is to prevent chlorine and some types of chemicals from touching your skin. Bathing and washing with filtered water also helps in alleviating asthma and certain allergies.

As you can see, you don't have to spend a fortune to have a skin that's glowing and free from blemishes. There are home remedies you can make use of for your skin to look clear and bright.
