I sometimes hear from people who don't completely understand the distinctions between the different Nutrisystem meals that are currently being offered. These folks are often trying to determine which plan might be best for them. Understanding the differences between the meals being offered can go a long way toward helping them to make these decisions.

An example of a comment that you might hear in this situation might be something like: "I notice that a couple of the Nutrisystem packages contain 'ready to go meals' and then some contain what is called 'fresh frozen' meals. What is the difference?"

Basically, the "ready to go meals" are the meals that are non frozen and require minimal preparation. Some only require that you remove the packaging and eat them and others require for you to add hot water or to heat them up. The ready to go meals aren't frozen. They are generally soft canned or prepackaged.

You might notice that the very basic plan includes "favorite" items from the ready to menu. This means that you will automatically receive items that have been determined to be fan favorites. Essentially, you will get a sampling of popular breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and desserts. Some examples of what's included is for breakfast on the favorites menu are the apple cinnamon oatmeal, the honey wheat bagel, the chocolate frosted donut, and the pancake mix. For lunch, a sampling of what is included in the favorites is pasta with beef, peanut butter and jelly bar, cheese tortellini, and chicken noodle soup. A sampling of dinners might include the sloppy joe, the chicken alfredo, the macaroni and cheese, and the thick crust pizza. You also get a sampling of snacks and desserts like chocolate chip cookies, cheese puffs, pretzels, and chocolate cake.

You might notice that you if upgrade to the core package, one of the benefits is that you get to customize your ready to go foods. What this means is that you can hand pick the items that you like from the menu instead of having to go with the favorites package.

The ready to go meals are different from the "fresh frozen" meals in that they aren't frozen. There are many frozen meals that are available as part of the select line, which is slightly more expensive. You also get some of the ready to go meals if you order the select package, but in addition to this, you also get your selection of the frozen meals that you want. So, all of the Nutrisystem packages include at least some of the ready to go meals. They are an important staple in the program.
