Summer is coming, and you want to look good in your swimsuit, right? Have no fear, for here are some great tips for getting fit just in time for summer:

Muscle Toning
Over the Winter, you may not have worked out as often or perhaps you even stopped working out. In this case, your first task should be to get your muscles toned and back into shape. You should always start slowly if you haven't worked out in a while. Get started with some stretching and in-place workouts, then work your way up to jogging, rebounding, cycling, swimming and the like to get your heart and stamina back in good shape.
Cleansing and Detoxing
There are many different options you can use for cleansing and detoxing your system of all the sweets and heavy food you ate over the Winter. You can do a simple water fast, which entails you drinking nothing but water for a day or two. You can also try a juice fast, which is where you drink nothing but vegetable or fruit juices for a certain period of time. You can also find many different types of cleansing and detoxing products at your local drug store or health food store. Note that you should always check with your doctor before embarking on any type of cleansing or detox regime.
Dieting
If you gained some weight over the Winter, you may want to embark on a diet to lose some weight. There are many diets out there, but the one tried and true method for losing weight is to simply eat less and exercise more. Try to keep track of your calorie intake and make sure you implement a good exercise routine to burn off some of those calories as well. However, if you need help, don't hesitate to use one of the many diet plans, books, videos, gurus or centers that are available to you. Again, don't start any diet without first consulting your doctor.
Start Moving More
Regardless of what diet, exercise or cleanse you choose, you can always benefit from simply getting out and moving more. This can include parking far away from the store entrance when you go grocery shopping, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or joining a sports team or club.
Other Essentials
Sleep is essential for getting fit and maintaining health at any time of year. Since the sun is setting later and rising earlier, you can try going to bed with the sun and geting up with the sun. Or just simply do your best to get the optimum 8 hours of sleep a night.
Also essential to getting fit is staying hydrated. During the Winter, you may have had many coffees, teas, hot cocoas, sodas and other drinks, but nothing hydrates you better than water. Get back into the habit of drinking your 8 glasses of water a day again.
