Everyone knows that they need to exercise to stay fit and live a healthier and longer life. However, you hear so many times many of these same people saying that they just don't have time for exercise. All of us are busy - trust me - I'm super busy every day. But, there is time to exercise if you make it a priority in your life. And, you may need to use a little creativity. Here are some tips for finding time to fit in exercise into your daily schedule.
One of the best ways to do this is to get in your exercise going to coming from work. If you are a runner or cyclist - you can bike or run to work. There are many offices that have showers - or you may work close to a Y where you can get in a quick clean up. If you do not have access to a shower - there's another way that you can get a little exercise in on your commute. Park farther away than you usually do from your workplace. Or after you park - take a walk before heading up to work. This is a great way to get in exercise before and after work.
Do you have stairs at your workplace? Don't use the elevator. Walk up the steps. You can even make this a workout during your lunch. Walk up and down the steps several times. You can gradually work up to doing them faster and do more of them. Stair steps can be a super workout!
While you are at work - there are some things that you can do at your desk. You can do some leg lifts under your desk. Sit straight and hold in your ab muscles. Lift one foot off the floor about 6 inches. Hold that for several seconds. Lower and repeat with the other leg.
Another desk exercise you can do is to sit on your chair - holding the sides of your chair and simply raise your legs and pretend that you are on a bicycle. This works your abs and your legs.
After a hard day at work - you may just want to sit and watch television. That's OK - but work in some crunches while you are watching. I like to lie on the floor with my legs up on a chair or the couch. Then I raise my body toward my knees.
Everyone has a super busy life. But, if you are creative - you can make the time to get some exercise in. And, if you are really serious - make a daily appointment with yourself. Block out time in your appointment book with yourself. Treat it as an appointment with an important client. After all - who's more important than you?
Getting in shape and staying in shape is a goal that everyone should have - no matter how busy they are. It's that important! Visit Health and Fitness Tips for more tips on exercise and healthy eating.
